Martin Luther King Jr. Friendship Wreath

Martin Luther King Jr. friendship wreath made with paper handprints and a portrait

Students made friendship wreaths using paper handprints arranged around a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

How to Make a Friendship Wreath

  1. Cut the center out of a paper plate to create a wreath-shaped base.
  2. Cut hand shapes from construction paper. We used an Ellison die to punch out the hands, but children can also trace their own hands and cut them out.
  3. Arrange and glue the paper hands around the plate to create a wreath.
  4. Add a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to complete the project.

This project can accompany classroom discussions about friendship, kindness, and working together.
